With Whipshading a tattoo artist achieves a special shading gradient from dark to light or vice versa. Each shading can be individually designed by the tattoo artist, and thus the overall image can be optimally represented. This technique is preferably used in floral tattoos.
The floral tattoo style is a tattoo art which is composed of flowers, leaves, or plants. The designs range from draped floral tendrils to single style flowers to bouquets that decorate the body.
In this style, the motifs are very finely engraved and usually only very lightly shaded. The light shading does not appear two-dimensional and is therefore not intended to draw the focus away from the finely drawn lines.
